How to Help

If you find our work meaningful and would like to support the many ways in which we serve our community, there are easy ways you can help!

  • Join us!
We're a friendly bunch and everyone is welcome!  Feel free to attend one of our monthly meetings to get a feel for our group and see if it "feels right" for you!  See our Calendar  page for details and contact us with any questions you may have.

  • Contribute cash
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, any donations you make to our club are tax deductible.

Any cash donations to help us in our community work are gratefully received.  Should you like to help our efforts in this way, you can be assured that we are careful stewards of our funds and use our money wisely and for the greatest impact in our community.

We use our cash donations and our budget in the following ways:

  1. Purchase of materials for Family Bags, Infant Bags, First Night Bags, and items during the holiday season
  2. Purchase of materials to make our Comfort Pillows  (average cost per pillow $2.00)

We are always sourcing materials for four major areas of our work: Family Bags, Infant Bags, First Night bags, and items for the holiday season.  Next time you are at the Dollar Store or Walmart, you can pick up any of the following items.  We often get items in multiples of ten, and keep them in storage for when we need to assemble the bags.  The average cost of each bag is noted in parentheses.

Family Bags: Bar soap, shampoo, conditioner, disposable razors, maxi pads, deodorant, lotion, toothbrush (adult and child), toothpaste, facial tissue, toilet paper, laundry detergent, liquid dish soap.  (Average cost is $15.00 per bag)

Infant Bags
Diapers, baby wipes, diaper rash cream, digital thermometer, baby shampoo, receiving blanket, fleece blanket, 2-3 outfits (seasonal), infant rattles, infant books, and books for pre-schoolers.  (Average cost is $15.00 per bag)

First Night Bags
Toothbrush, deodorant, comb, packet of wash cloths, and travel sizes of all of the following: shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, toothpaste, lotion. (Average cost is $15.00 per bag)

Holiday Bags:
During the holiday season, we take a variety of items to Simonka Place for Women and Children : warm socks, womens underwear (no bikini please), hats, gloves, twin size blankets, bath towels, wash cloths.

  • Volunteer Opportunities
Our two big fundraisers of the year are the Salem Art Fair and the Oregon State Fair.   All the money we earn goes directly to our community projects.

Salem Art Fair:
We can always use helping hands and friendly faces in our booth at the annual Salem Art Fair , where we have been selling our "world famous" cotton candy for over 40 years!

Oregon State Fair
Our newest big fundraiser is working as ticket takers and hand stampers at the Oregon State Fair .  We earn money for every hour we work there, and it has proven to be a significant contributor to our club's budget
